Santorini, Greece is a circle of islands surrounding a lagoon created by one of the largest ancient volcanic eruptions on earth.  These islands create the southernmost tip of the Cyclades islands and are contained within only twenty-eight square miles.  Trip Advisor hails Santorini as, “a must-see island that has it all - from hypnotic sunset views of volcanoes rising out of blue seas…”  These small, intimate cliff towns teaming with history, are the perfect place to create memorable romantic nights with your new spouse.

If you’d like to stay in the center of the action and shopping, then Fira (or Thira) is the place to stay.  This city is where the cruise ships come to port and tourists fill the pedestrian zone hunting for deals and grabbing a bite to eat.  At night this city comes alive as part of the bar and nightclub scene.

For a bit more peace and quiet, travel north ten minutes to Firostefani or ten minutes further to Imerovigli.  Several of the hotels in this region have honeymoon as part of their name.  For the ultimate seclusion, stay in the northern town of Oia.  For those looking for a unique beach experience, stay or make a trip to Kamari for black sand beaches.

No matter where you stay, the sunsets are unlike anywhere else on the planet.  Snuggle up with your newly betrothed and celebrate another day in this new chapter of your life while taking in the view.

5 Affordable U.S. Honeymoons
Tuesday, 13 May 2008

The following destinations were recommended by CNN travel as getaways using your tax rebate or stimulus check, but would make excellent honeymoons in the United States on a conservative budget.

Charleston, South Carolina
This city is rich with history and home to great beaches.  Stay at the charming Andrew Pinckney Inn for around $149 a night in the heart of downtown.  Or stay on the other side of the harbor at the Boardwalk Inn at Wild Dunes Resort starting at $185.  Be sure to try the fish tacos at Poe’s Tavern or the local oysters at Red’s Ice House.  For a bit of a splurge dine at Atlanticville on Sullivan’s Island.

Grand Canyon National Park, North Rim
This area, as compared to the South Rim, is at a higher elevation causing the main tourist season to be shorter and the area to be less crowded.  This gives you and your sweetheart more time to gawk at the view and hike the trails in seclusion.  Look into staying at the Grand Canyon Lodge-North Rim inside the park with unbeatable views starting at $109 a night.

Aloha to great deals
Thursday, 13 March 2008

Two Hawaiian guys created a blog that gives travelers “information from a local and honest perspective”.  Rob Kvidt and Jeff Tucker write about deals, events, culture and plate lunch specials (which they say are their favorite posts).  The Beat of Hawaii started in January 2008 and looks like it has potential to grow into an extremely useful resource for honeymooners planning their trip to the number one honeymoon hot spot.  Rob and Jeff offer readers the opportunity to email questions about Hawaii travel which they respond to in posts for other readers to learn about as well.

Take a look at The Beat of Hawaii as it grows, but for right now make sure you check out the post dedicated to cheap traveling ideas for your stay in Waikiki.  Their list includes: riding the bus instead of paying for a taxi, free museums to visit, and how to save money on food.  For all the details click here.
